We can’t always prevent aspiration or choking, but we can always do our best to be prepared in the event of an emergency. For those that have been quick to judge, we are CPR certified, and the only judgement that matters to me is God’s. Secondly, even the professionals were unable to save her life. Her name “Leilani” translates to mean “royal child of Heaven.” which we didn’t know until after… as much as it hurts to live without her, I am so grateful to have experienced her love for the year+ that God let us borrow her on Earth. Lani was sent here for a purpose that I may not fully understand yet, but my mission is to create a legacy on her behalf and be a beacon of light in this often dark world. Lani’s life matters so much, and she will help parents and babies alike. Sometimes, accidents and horrible circumstances occur that we have no control of. Control the controllables and leave the rest to God. Be present where your feet are today, do your very best to have resources and education, and most importantly, pray. If you don’t believe in God, I’m truly sorry for you and if you’re only intention is to harass a grieving family or spread hate please don’t waste your time, I’ll be praying for you.
Aspiration, where food, liquid, or other substances enter the lungs instead of the stomach, is a significant concern for both babies and older adults, particularly those with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) or other health conditions.

For those asking about life VAC or other similar products, I’m no health professional, but I do personally recommend. We have purchased one for every vehicle and location where our children are. I cannot say with certainty whether or not they work and I was told that one of the reasons they don’t carry them on EMS vehicles is because it can cause Cruising and other issues… I don’t know about you, but I’d rather my kids or my grandparents have a few bruises and still be alive than not. We never truly know, but I will always advocate for being as prepared as possible and leaving the rest in God’s hands. Hope this helps.
